Chronic Back Pain Sucks!

If you have ever had chronic back pain, which is back pain that lasts for 3-6 months or more, then you know what we mean. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) estimates that 3.7 million Australians suffer with chronic back pain – that’s a lot of people – are you one of them?

To keep things perfectly clear, chronic back pain does not just mean your low back (lumbar spine), but includes your mid-back (thoracic spine) and neck (cervical spine) too.

Regardless of where your chronic pain is in your back, chiropractic care might be what you are looking for as part of the solution.

During Spinal Health Week which runs from May 22nd to May 28th 2017, chiropractors from the Chiropractors Association of Australia are promoting the potential benefits of chiropractic care for chronic back pain.

Now we know that a topic like ‘chronic back pain’ is not too ‘sexy’ but with 1 in 6 Australians suffering with this problem, we consider is a vital public health initiative, and we need to talk about it.

Chronic Back Pain can lead to more issues if left uncorrected at the source. Chiropractors are well placed to assess the problem, find the root cause, and then tailor a care plan to not only reduce your pain and suffering, but with some additional options and information, really maximise your health potential over time.

Again, let me be clear because I have to point two things out. Your body has to do the healing, and having a chiropractor as part of your healthcare team is no guarantee of success.

You must address any other causes of lifestyle stress that are contributing to the problem too!

Some options that you can use as well as developing a chiropractic care plan with us include:

Walking more. Walking is an awesome way of getting the spine moving better, and is free. There are apps to help you get the most out of this activity too – check out a great one – the CAA‘s ‘Just start walking’ app is available on the App store and Google Play now. Plus there are local walking groups you can join too – check out this link for some options.

Straighten Up your posture – again and great option is to use an app like the CAA‘s ‘Straighten Up’ app found here. You can also work on stretching when you are at your desk – a useful set of stretches can be downloaded here.

More than anything else, healing is about getting results over time. Invest your time well into meaningful and healthy activities that maximise your chances of healing and living an awesome life.

Don’t let Chronic Back Pain get you down, call us today on 0756891477 and discuss your options.
